Thanks, all!

Here is the final product. This model represents the F-8 being flown into "captivity" at the end of the war in Europe, seen on this video: This airplane is at 2:05. The unit assignment and pilot I do not know.......but it is an interesting machine. Also notice that the left induction "speed fairing" on the cowling has a substantial dent in it that I tried to replicate.

The kit was excellent, typical of Eduard quality (even though packaged as Accurate Miniatures).
