Title: "Cute" Spitfire Vb (Tiger Model)
Post by: draken35 on December 10, 2016, 07:15:50 PM
Here is another very nice "cute" aircraft from Tiger Model: the Spitfire!

Parts are very nice; the only problem of those kits is the presence of big "plots" on the inner side of the canopy...
I will add the Retowings detail set (I'm the creator of that set, seatbelt excepted that was made by Dominique Jadoul)

First work was of course to remove the plots of the canopy; then sanding with different grades of sandpaper; use of three coumpounds - operation was made three times - and finally bath in Klir.

After that some work of the interior of fuselage with the insertion of detail set elements and use of Vallejo putty and miliput. The wheel bays interiors are also added and the guns are made more "accurates"...

Expansion? No... Inflation :))
There are lot of new eggs or cute or deform kits. From Hasegawa, Tiger Model, AFV Club, Retrowings, and more...

Yes but fun to do and always good to learn some techniques - like the fact to paint in dark grey the raised surfaces of the instruments panel...

Yes, that instrument panel treatment is quite appealing.

Gloss varnish then Tamiya Panel Liner then matt varnish and finally pastels...
Funny kit but lot of work will be needed filling and sanding!
The rear wheel is modified; it will be placed and fixed when I will use miliput...

Back on the Spit: I've used Vallejo putty for "light" work and Tamiya putty for bigger holes and spaces...

Primer airbrushed. It revealed that Vallejo putty was not perfect for use for the guns; so I have removed it and used miliput instead.
I've also made holes for the machineguns...

Well, I was not really satisfied with the alignment of the holes of the machineguns. So I've used putty, sanded, and made new holes. This time it's perfect!  :))

...Then matt varnish and I removed the cockpit masks...

...And big problem appeared!

When I've used milipu for the rear wheel bay, some particles of miliput faled into the interior of the kit and due to the manipulations, became fixed on the interior of the canopy!  :-wall :-kr

After some moments of BIG nervosity  :-danger :-danger :-danger

...I carefuly removed the canopy, being very attentive not to damage de putty that was linking the canopy to the fuselage...  :-help

With a Q-tip I remived the miliput particles and replaced the canopy.

Minor damages were masked with silver paint, simulating some chipping paint  :-ok

Then I used pastels and... This is it!
