Post by: draken35 on April 30, 2018, 08:24:16 PM
Time to come back...

...And back with a new "cute" Corsair from Tiger Models, with the cockpit detail set from Retrowings

I will represent the Corsair of Fernado Soto Henriquez, an Hondurian pilot that obtained 3 kills again Salvadorian aircrafts during the "soccer war"

Some modifications will be needed of course. The antenna on the right side of the fuselage in front of the cockpit have to be removed. I  have placed a piece of Evergreen inside the half fuselage and fille the hole of the antenna with Squadron Green putty.
The wings are assembled and needed for lot of Squadron and Vallejo putty. For the wheel traps I used Tamiya putty... to fill ejection holes that were really misplaced...

I've removed the fixations of the canopy; too big and too visible. Sanding was necessary so the canopy became opaque. With Tamiya Compound and then a bath of Klir, things are much better now.
I've also made some ameliorations and used Mr Surfacer to fill little defaults in the Squadron putty

Thank you  :))

Gloss varnish and Tamiya panel Liner applied then matt varnish. Some weathering still needed.
For the instrument panel, I've used some instrument decals I own. No search of authenticity but just to obtain a nice result...

Do you remember my post on April 30?
I explained that the antenna have to be placed elsewhere so I used putty to fill the hole and, to avoid too much putty in the interior, I obstructed the hole with a little part of Evergreen...

...It was really a good idea...

...Except that, because of that Evergreen part, it was impossible to close the fuselage!!!
So I had to remove the Evergreen before to continue...

...After that, assembling the aircraft was easier.
Well, it's not a perfect kit and putty will be needed - But it's a "cute" Corsair!
To be noted the new antenna mast on the back of the fuselage...

Good question.
I use a Badger 150. It is reserved for this kind of paints. My Evolution is used with acrylics only

Primer airbrushed. That coat of primer revealed some little defaults at three emplacements. I will have to fix them before to continue (and preheaps the kit woill need a second coat of primer...)

After having painted the national markings, I masked them and airbrushed the navy Blue

Then masking phase and painting of the black color of the anti glare panel.
I used Tamiya tape for curves (white tape) for the first time: really useful and easy to place!

Title: Re: "Cute" Corsair (Tiger Model)
Post by: draken35 on August 01, 2018, 05:18:48 PM
Decals done. Great look IMHO...  :-love
The only problem is that I've made a big mistake, and I discovered that after having placed the decals: propeller is quadripale and not tripale...
Fortunately I own a quadripale propeller from another kit but I have no replacement decals.
So, I will have to choose: a splendid bur unaccurate triplae propeller, or an accurate but less splendid quadripale one...
I think I will paint the quadripale and decide after  :))

Hahaha- never note detail of propeller, but yes, it is egg version of real subject :)
Title: Re: "Cute" Corsair (Tiger Model)
Post by: draken35 on August 04, 2018, 02:31:20 PM
Yes my friend, "deform" must be "accurate"  :))

Firstly, I found in my spare parts a quadripale propeller. I just adapted the rear, to be introduced in the engine of the "cute".
Secondly: remember my "Corsearth", the cute Corsair I transformed into a roadster? Well; I had put the propeller into my spare parts. And (hazard does not exist!) a French friend sent me some days ago another cute Corsair that he lost the canopy... So, with two spare propellers, I can create a quadripale...

Post by: draken35 on August 04, 2018, 02:34:18 PM
Here is a photo of the three propellers. The "cute" quadripale must be finished yet, with putty or miliput to marry the blades with the axe.

...And good new too for the blades decals: I own an 1/48th Corsair with an Eagle Strike decal sheet for 5 or 6 Corsairs; the blades decals are provided for all the decos and there are fitting very well on the cute blades!
