Title: War Museum Overloon
Post by: Nico Braas on April 03, 2014, 12:23:11 PM
This is a selction of photographs I made yesterday at Overloon.
It was a long time ago since my last visit (some 25 years).
Earlier most exhibits were placed outside in a large park, but the long-time effects were quite devastating.
Everything is now placed inside a large museum hall and everything has been nicely restored.
Here is the first dozen of images......

This is the second and last set of Overloon images.
Overloon is not very far away from Nijmegen and the museum is only 2 km from the A73 motorway.
I can only say it is well worth a visit!!

Thanks for sharing these images, Nico. Great displays to see.

The desert Jeep in SAS configuration is especially interesting to me as my father used to tell me that his maintenance unit helped a British team with some work and upgrades on their Jeeps. He remembered that they had so much "stuff" stowed on them that the suspensions were beefed up to handle the extra weight.

It seems to have changed a lot since I went there back in the early 80's. Will have to search through my files and see what I have of that trip.
