Hi friends,
I open the Group Build with my project: the Sherman T31!
The T31 never attained production; only a few prototypes were built. The goal of that incredible macgine was to destroy the beach defences during landing operations. But production would have come too late...
The base is the Dragon 1/72 M4A3E8(76) Sherman (what a name... :-green ) and I will use the Retrotracks conversion kit giving the turret with three guns, and some photoetch elements.
I hope to begin the build soon; I will try to finish some aircrafts before to really start that "monster"...
-
Lets go!!!
-
Oh!! This will be wonderful! :-clap :-tri
-
Let's go with this :( Well, not happy solution but nothing good in my country :(
-
Interesting thing with "destroyer of mines." :)) :-ok
-
Will not do it in this way, I will do something less common, sample operated by China in WW2
-
;)

As an aside to No.1's "Crab" variant, my dad and his crew built a couple of these in North Africa in 1943. They used parts of damaged halftracks and other vehicles for the drive, and the engine and transmission of a halftrack was mounted behind the turret to power the flail. Evidently they examined a British Scorpion and adopted their design.
I can't find a kit that suits me here, either, in the land that built the Sherman! I may end up watching this from the sidelines, but it'll still be fun.
Carry on!
-
Thanks for info mate :)
-
Some very little progress, actually this kit can be made much faster :)
-
Nice!! :)) :-ok
-
:-ok
-
Well... I have not progressed on that kit due to a problem: at the time Domi released it, he was looking after casters; and the T-31 was sent to a new one. But the result was not at the level of quality Domi is realising: many, many, many bubbles in the resin...
So I've thought how to find a solution. Before to use miliput, I give a try to my "home-filler" (sprue dissolved in liquid cement). Photos are showing what is the beginning of the work only...
-
De airing... this is not hard, I don't understand why this is not used in casting? Wish you good result there mate?
-
Thank you - I hope all will work fine because the subject is so interresting...
-
Those air bubbles have seemed to follow you around lately! I'm sorry this has happened.
As No.1 said, de-airing isn't really a problem unless the caster doesn't apply a bit of vacuum after pouring the resin. I've never used vacuum myself and sometimes had the air bubbles also.
Regardless of these problems, it's good to see you going forward!
-
This is very interesting!!! :-clap :-clap Hardly wait to see final result!! ;)
-
Few little steps...
-
:-ok :-clap
-
Excellent work my friend!
-
Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles...
-
You are great modeler Daniel, you will solve it. ;)
-
Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles...
Wll, I hope that (to solve it...)
-
Big problem with the turret of the T-31: trying to correct all those bubbles, I've broken the turret a first time. Trying to make a reparation, the turret falled out of my hand and broke again. Definitively: two reparations, too many bubbles... Work would be too hard. So, T-31 project is definitively abandoned.
Never mind: I will build my Dragon Sherman from the box; it's a great kit in itself!
-
Good decision. No need to waste time. I'm with you my friend! :-flo
-
Thank you Sall ;)
-
Too bad about the resin parts. :-/ I can't wait to see further progress on the standard version!
-
I hope this one will be painted today :)
-
Nice progress!
-
Ha ha- thank you mate :)
-
Nice little machine! :-ok Can't wait to see paint and weathering! :-tri
-
Paint on Sherman, now it is time for markings I guess :-think
-
Nice,nice. :)

:-ok
