My 1/72 JPK90 project
« on: January 23, 2011, 10:48:01 AM »
Last year I have begun that project: a full scratch of a JPK90 at 1/72 scale.

The JPK90 (JagdPanzer Kanone) is the Belgian version of the German KaJaPa (Kanone JagdPanzer); a tank hunter that can be called the "son of the Jagdpanzer". Belgium ordered 80 JPK90 that were in use in the years '70 and '80's.
The difference with the German KaJaPA is essentially that the wheels and tracks of the Belgian tanks were similar to those of the Marder: when Belgium ordered for the tanks, the Germans had finished the build of their KaJaPa's and were busy with the build of the Marder.
Of course, other differences exists, like the use of Belgian MG.

After 15 years of excellent use (during manoeuvers, our JPK's caused many problems to American units...), and due to budget restrictions, the JPK were removed from service and replaced by ATK helicopters (A109 Agusta).

I will post photos of the work I've made until now in the next few days. My final goal is to produce a master for my friend Dominique Jadoul (RetroTracks).
But here is the beast (photo of the JPK of the "Musée des Chasseurs à Pied", Charleroi, Belgium). The responsible of the museum is a friend of mine, Res. LtCol Patrick Denamur. He helped me very well, giving me documentation and full access to the JPK of the museum.

...And the very first stage of my work:

First, drawing of the sides and then, cutting on Evergreen

I will show you all the stages of my work, included my wrong ones...

The wheels and tracks are coming from the Revell 1/72 Marder.

At the beginning I was working fast, and all seemed good enough but it wasn't the case...

Wonderful scratchbuilding! :-love :-obey Thanks for the background information on the machine, too. I await your next entry.

Thank you!

Yes, actually I have too few time to continue that work, but I made other stages last years that I will continue to show you...

After that first prototype, I have begun two JPK's: one for myself (full scratchbuild), the other being the master for RetroTracks.

For the gun, I used elements from M46 Patton (Trumpeter), scratch, and metal gun for a... Stug!

Preparation of the wheels and tracks, and how I envisage to present my JPK (in fact, I just want to make the JPK of Charleroi's museum)
