I have received this week two horses head from GDC Dreams, Argentina.
Those heads are splendid. It's artisanaly produced, so you will have some work to eliminate little bubbles and holes, but the final result you can obtain will be great.
One of the heads had an ear broken due to transport. Easy to repare. I have also made the mane with Magic Sculpt...
-
Excellent work!
-
After having airbrushed white primer and used maskol to mask parts of head that will remain white, I airbrushed a base of XF-52 Flat Earth with 15-20% of white
-
Good base for top colors :-ok
-
Back to the horse head today, and nice progress. To paint with oil paint is a real pleasure...
-
Very real!!!
-
That horse head is simply... A living thing!
-
excellent detailing.
-
Thank you! ;)
-
The horse head is finished. Now I will have to wait until the oil paint will be completely dry, then to put them on a base. Not the one received with the horse head but another one, that will give IMHO better final result...
(Correction: work not finished, I forgot to darken the eyes...)
-
Excellent mate, this is pleasure to see :)
-
Horse head is now really finished: I have worked on the eyes.
-
Great work mate, amazing!!!
-
Thank you mate! :)
-
...And here is the final result...
-
Wonderful!!!
-
Thank you my friend! :)
-
Now it's the turn of Riboy...
Preparation phase: What I have received; what I will use; and intensive sanding phase...
-
I am wonder how many horse species are available as kits?

You are real fan mate!!!
-
Absolutely! ;)

Miliput day today!
During the process, the head falled and left ear was broken. So: miliput... :-green
-
You really have nerves to do such a things :-ok
-
Great to watch you do this!
-
Thank you!
In fact, to repair the broken ear was really easy... You put miliput in place, then with the fingers humidifed by water, you give the good shape to the miliput (with also the help of a simple quite effective toothpick...)
Well guys, of course best way is not to brake the ear...
-
At least you found the ear! (I lost the tailwheel for the last Gladiator in my "carpet monster" and didn't find it for a week... ;))
-
Ah, that carpet monster... A calamity!
here of course I found the ear; but well broken in many parts... That's why I preferred to re-create the "missing" part with miliput...
-
...Oh yes, and for what concerns the Carpet Monster, see my T-shirt:
"PLASTIC MODELERS BELGIUM - CARPET MONSTER KILLERS"
We're a band of "bad boys" (including our friend Domi from RetrokiT)... ;)
-
Hahaha- great image mate :-ok
-
I'm in company of Didier Waelkens (blue T-Shirt), IPMS-Belgium president and member of the "Belgian Carpet Monster Killers", and Roger Lothaire, specialist for artillery.
-
The mane is realised with Magic Sculpt. Then first application of primer that reveals some defaults that will be corrected soon (bubbles; excess of resin...)
-
Excellent mane, and I find the whole process so interesting!
-
Thank you Scott! ;)
-
Magoc scult look like ultimate sculpting material
-
Yes, it's a very useful product, easy to use!
-
After corrections, white primer again
-
Masking tape + maskol
-
Waiting for the next color?
-
Waiting for the next color?
Exactly! Brown acrylic will follow, before the use of oil paints ;)
-
;)
-
This is great!
-
Thank you Scott! ;)
-
Brown paint is a mix of Tamiya acrylics: XF-52 and XF-64. Then I removed the masks, and handpainted the flesh color (from a set of Andrea for painting skin)
-
Eyes are oil painted
-
Amazing effect!
-
Thank you! ;)
-
First application of Vandyke brown
-
:-eek :-eek :-eek :-clap :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Vandyke Brown again, but this time with a little bit of black - plus or minus of black following the different locations
-
Completed?
-
Completed?
Not yet: first, I have to show my work to my friend, to have her opinion: are the "darkest zones" dark enough? If not: Vandyke Brown + a little bit more of black.
And after that, I will have to paint the mane, and to put a drop of gloss varnis on the eyes...
-
I have just put a drop of gloss varnish on the eyes. Now, he is coming to life :))
-
The following photos are of better quality than the previous ones: taken at day light and then with the flash
-
You become top expert, this look like live creature!
-
Thank you my friend! ;)
-
My friend confirmed me that the colors are correct :))
So, I've painted the mane...
We're near to completion. When the oil paint will be dry, I will put the head on its base.
-
This look so perfect to me :-ok
-
Thank you!
-
Realism!!!
-
Thank you Scott! ;)
-
FINISHED!!! :))
-
Congratulation :-razz :-clap :-clap :-flo
-
Thank you my friend! :)
-
A beautiful and lifelike result! :-love
-
Thank you Scott!!! :)
