Another product from Retrotracks is that little Dutch M39. used by the Dutch army just before WWII; then used by the Germans during the war. After the war, there was planned to restart the production for The Netherlands and Belgium, but project aborted...
Resin is nice; material is fine... Nothing special to say.
-
The most difficult thing was to remove the resin carrot under the chassis... The vehicle is just ready for painting!
-
Cool! :-clap
-
Another great subject :-ok
-
:))
White primer
-
This vehicle have nice shape, I like it :)
-
Primer day!! :)) :-clap :-ok
-
Yesterday at night I airbrushed the camo of that little DAF. As it is a "what-if", I've decided to represent it with the Belgian khaki "mosterd" from 1940... I like it!
Belgian khaki 1940 =
40% Tamiya XF-49 kaki
40% Tamiya XF-59 Desert Yellow
10% XF-52 Flat Earth
10% orange yellow
Then today I've painted the tyres with "Dark Rubber" from Panzer Aces
Then, weathering with Model Master Rust with some drops of MM Gun Metal
... And I've assembled the parts.
Next step: airbrushing gloss varnish
-
Fast!!!
-
Fast!!!
Yes, vehicle is simple...
-
Fast!!!
Very! And i like it!! Looks great my friend!! :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you!
Having some time before a friend to come home, I've airbrushed Pébéo gloss varnish and then applied decals...
...Here is it
-
So cute ;)
-
Thank you! :)
-
Great!! :-clap
Close to finish!! So fast! :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you Sall!
Well, I have showed my M39 to my friend; like me he served some moments on CVRT Scorpion. After discussion he convinced me to add some decals for more réalisme: weight for bridges (yellow circle) and black rectangle for barrack number and infos for the crew written with a chalk...
My 1 euro oin shows you the BIG size of the M39 ;)
-
This is soooooo tiny!!!! :-eek :-clap
Great job on this kit, and soooo fast!! Congratulations!! :-clap :-clap
-
Thank you! ;)
-
Look nice ;)
-
Thank you my friend!
-
Little but important modification yesterday: code sight of the 2Cy (white numbers on the black rectangle) is "060"; so I removed the "72"...
Here is one possible way to present the kit: as an expo vehicle in a museum or in a unit... I take inspiration on the way the JPK90 of the "Musée des Chasseurs à Pied" is presented to the public...
-
Nice one mate :-ok
-
Thank you! ;)
-
:-clap :-ok
-
Oil wash...
-
Life ;)
-
:-clap :-ok
-
Thank you!
Pébéo matt varnish airbrushed on the Daf. The base received Tamiya XF-19 Sky Grey before further work...
-
Still not completed?
-
Still not completed?
No, not yet: the Daf will have to be weathered with pastels. For the base, I have to introduce nuances in the paint, to avoid a too "monochrome" effect ;)
-
I can not even imagine how great it will look like :-clap
-
Thank you ;)
-
Very good mate!! :-clap Can't wait finished model!! :-tri
-
;) Thank you!
-
I've used Tamiya pastels "Sand" and "Gray". As it is a museum guardian, the DAF don't need for any mud or dust.
So it's finished, but the base not yet...
-
This pastels give great touch :)
-
I like to use pastels! IMHO it's more easy than drybrush with paint, or airbrushing faded color...
-
Combination is best from my point of view but... it is just me, your work is remarkable :)) :-ok
-
Thank you!
...And you're right, my friend ;)
-
:))
-
:-clap :-ok
-
Thank you Sall!

Oil wash
-
Don't make it too much dirt, I was in Belgium, it is clean, nice and tidy country :))

Hmmm... You did not came in Belgium then ;)
-
Hhhhmmmm... maybe I return to Belgium and think I am in Serbia?
-
;)
-
Pébéo matt varnish airbrushed on the base; then pastels (first photo shows work in progress). When finished with the pastels, some "natural" weathering (see second photo). Then the DAF is positioned and glued.
It's almost finished; some details to do yet but... Must have to think how to do for flowers...
-
Flowers? Did Eduard make set for flowers?

Flowers? Did Eduard make set for flowers?

No deadline to finish: for the flowers that will be done quickly; but I wish a cat and civilians...
-
Cat in that scale...
-
Yes... But fond, thanks to Domi! He sent me the cat today. Time to receive the cat (and some civilians), I hope to finish the diorama between 15 days
-
Can't wait to see that!! :-jump

This is a great model and excellent concept!
-
Thank you!

Civilians, cat AND flower pots are at home!
Thank you, Domi!!!

Cat will be challenge I guess ;)
Sure... ;)
-
White primer...
-
Look like frozen ;)
-
:)
-
Tiny things on your workbench these days! :-clap
-
I confirm... ;)
-
OK, it's finished!!!
I have painted the figures with acrylic paints (some Vallejo and Citadel Colors) + Vallejo Brown Glaze; than I finished the plants; made the presentation plate (very basic I must say) and glued all in right place...
The adults are looking to the DAF; but the little girl is more interrested by the cat near the rear wheel :))
I like the final result. The clothes of the visitors are giving some luminous colors to the diorama.
The DAF is a very nice little kit, very easy to build and I would like to thank Domi for this jewel. I had real pleasure to build and paint it!
-
Scenery is great mate :-ok
