« on: December 24, 2012, 06:26:30 PM »
Dear friends,

I get this bust from friend, he has assemble it and I have to paint it. First image show one similar completed figure and it should be used as rough guide for painting and second image is sample I have to do coated with primer. Question- what present this figure? Is there any historic and archeology sources for this subject?

Not a divinity (there are non human); perheaps a queen or a priestress...

Nice bust anyway, but take care: it seems that there is some bubble holes in her... well... attributes... :)

After some researches: perheaps queen Tiyi?

Don't agree for Cleopatra VII: not the same heat; and the nose is not so "remarkable" as the one of the famous queen...

No idea mate... I say that based on dress, not look. If I could take attention on look, it could be their famous beauty Nefertiti but images I get on Internet suggest Cleopatra...  :-think

You can exclude Nefertiti: she would have been represented with her famous heat, not this one.

For Cleopatra, I'm not sure... OK the snake is present on the heat, but the rest of the heat seems different from the images we can find about Cleopatra...
But it's a possibility anyway...

After comparing all data I realized that this bust was not realistic. It have mixed elements, including those which was specific for King... so I will paint it in free style

I've asked to my daughter Céline, that is passionated for Ancient Egypt. For her, it's a mix between Cleopatra and Tiyi...
So you're right my friend: free style will be the best way to go!

I start skin painting and this is faced with different approach. What we see on most painted figures are big skin contrast and this give depth and dimensional impression of the small object and make it more realistic. Here we have something else- figure present noble person, from Royal family. So her skin is always under good treatment, I guess she look like today photo models. So I start in different way- start with dark red brown and end with pale cream color. This as final result give very light shadows of the skin.

This is very interesting to watch, and something I have never had ability to do--make accurate human figures.
