Title: Unknown Junkers project
Post by: Nico Braas on August 13, 2010, 11:22:02 AM
I recently found this interesting original Junkers works picture showing a strange double-hull flying boat.
It must be a project since I cannot find anything at all in the books I have on Junkers.
Plane is on reverse side of photo described as 'Junkers Junkerissene' but that does not ring any bells.
Project must date around 1935-1936 and because of rudder "colors" being similar to Dutch Marineluchtvaartdienst scheme some people think it is a competing Dornier Do-24 design.
Information is very welcome!!!

Tried to find something (oh, how I love this Inter(of)Net :))): actually, there are some pages dedicated to this and other Junkers projects. http://hugojunkers.pytalhost.com/ju_junkerissime_a1.htm, for instance...
Try to search with "junkerissime", and not junkerissene... :-wave

It almost seems that the designers were building on the idea of the Savoia Marchetti S-55.
