Not all planes are designed with 'elegance' and there are certain candidates for the ugliest.
This is one of these uglies: the Bristol Type 72 racer. It was built in 1921 and it flew as bad as it looked!
In total seven flights were made before the plane was abandoned.
If one of you has another candidate for the ugliest plane, just feel free to comment!

That Bumblebee is not ugly! It is a nice little plane and the name is very, very appropriate!
Attached another ugly: the Dutch Verbeek Parasol. It was built well before the war by mr. Adri Verbeek and it was an early attempt for an ultra-light as you can see. The name 'Parasol' is the name I gave it when I discovered the existence of this plane some 20 years ago. Plane ended after a its unintended first flight in a willow tree and was never repaired.
Photo's are from mr. Verbeek!
