Saab 32 Lansen
« on: November 03, 2021, 06:15:53 PM »
In 1946, Saab began work on a project that was supposed to replace the Saab B 18 / S 18 bombers. 2 years later, the Swedish government clarified the requirements for a new strike aircraft ? it should be jet, as well as universal (attack aircraft, fighter, bomber). Thus began the history of the Saab 32 Lansen. November 3, 1952 - the first flight of the Saab 32 Lansen multi-purpose attack fighter.

The Lansen was a two-seat low-wing with a retractable landing gear. The Svenska Flygmotor RM6A engine with a thrust of 65.3 kN on the afterburner allowed it to reach speeds of up to 1200 km / h. The flight range is 2000 km. In the fighter version, it carried the following armament ? 4 ? 30 mm ADEN guns + up to 1500 kg of combat load (missiles) on 4 suspension points.

Lansen was produced in 3 versions - attack aircraft (A 32A), fighter (J 32B) and scout (S 32C). It became the first supersonic aircraft of the Swedish Air Force. 450 Saab 32 Lansen units of all modifications were built. These aircraft were in service with the Swedish Air Force until 1997.
