Title: Rogozarski PVT-H, newly found photo
Post by: Letipapa on August 25, 2008, 03:20:35 AM
This summer I decided to investigate old photos, put somewhere deep in the dark of old wardrobes, drawers and book cases, and all that because one large photo of hydroplane with sailors and aviators around it, came up to me before 5 or 6 years (then not occupied by aviation in any sense like today).
My uncle (died in 1943) was an aviator on hydroplanes in Kingdom of Yugoslavia and I knew that there are some photos. So I found some of them, but one I was looking, i couldn't find. The house was enlarged and renovated and my mother put it somewhere...

OK, here is what I find first (phot.1) and I was surprised - I never saw that photo before. The hydroplane is photographed in a small harbor named Zlarin, on the island of the same name. It is in a middle Dalmatia, in a front of the harbour city Sibenik (Shibenik). A man standing on the floats is unknown to me (could be someone connected whit my uncle - I must investigate :-think :-think :-think). People from the harbour a grouped on the shore. A women in a typical island costume is bowed in the background, maybe washing something (fish, shells, clots :-think :)) in the sea.

The year is 1937 (phot.2-the back side).
Big number 52 is on the side behind a 2nd cockpit of the airplane.
On the tail there is a light color (white?) sign resambling a stylisized skull and under it something writes that is not visible, although I scanned in 7500 dpi (phot.3 ). On the ruder it is written in a dark color: "PVT-H" and "Br 4" under it. Bellow that, on the light surface there are some letters and numbers that are not visible good (no matter the 7500 dpi scan). Only in the third row I can surely identify a number 177 at the end.
Maybe I should try to scan that part even with a larger resolution :-think

This type of airplane was a trainer type 2 seat parasol wing hydroplane. Was it used for some other purposes I do not know, but here it seems it was used like a transportation in a manner of kind of a sporty style picnic :)

If anybody is interested I will gladly send this photo in a very high resolution, zipped of course. Just let me know. :-wave

Thanks friends :-love :-salut There is more photos, not only the airplanes but aviators too. Only I am not sure how to present them, I mean what to be the name of the topic. And also I need some time to investigate things, chronology etc. There are some photos of Brittish airplane carrier "Glorious" in a Split harbor.
Nico, I have scanned this photos in 600dpi, some small ones in 1200 or 2400dpi, and also some details in 1200,2400,7500dpi and even bigger resolutions. This can not be shown here because of limit in bites, but I could send You directly. How do I do that here on LLL I must first try, any advice is so welcome and it will be quicker than. :)

Killian I think that I didn't understood Your question "Whats that for a plane?"
-what is what for a plane :-think :-think :-think (It is possible also that my English is sometimes poor). Please, demystify it to me.
Cheers! :) :-wave

Manufacturer is Rogozarski (one among first in Serbia)
(pronounce this z like j in french " bon jour")
so the airplane is: Rogozarski PVT -H (for hydroplane). There was also the standard type with wheels. Here are few photos  I saved from web (bad resolution - but that is what there is) :-wave:
