Fokker biography
« on: March 07, 2008, 03:15:00 PM »
Found this at a 2nd hand bookshop: a perfect copy of Fokker's biography DE VLIEGENDE HOLLANDER published in 1931.
I already had the original American edition 'Flying Dutchman -The life of Anthony Fokker' and it is interesting to see that the Dutch book is far from a 1:1 translation of the original English text!

Book has 326 pages and 58 photos. Interesting to see that the US and Dutch edition do not have all the same pictures!
One of the most interesting shots is the one of the Fokker 'motor-gun' with 12 rotating barrels based on the 19th century Gatling gun! Although patent was applied for, it never was a techical success!

This is how that 'motor-gun' looked like!
It is a page from the book 'Fokker aicraft armament' by G. de Vries and B.J. Martens.
Eventually it was never mass-produced!

Very interesting and look like modern version today. Maybe 12 barrels was too much?
