By my information on this plane were floy Leutenant Urban Drew from the 361 FG, * Air Force and he downed two Me262 at October 7. 1944. But I wonder is this his original plane or just a Mustang with Drew personal markings?

Divanov, looks like the website is wrong, the squadron markings on the image (E2) are for the 375th Fighter Sqn of the 361st Fighter Group. The 357 FS was a part of the 355 FG with a Sqn marking of - OY

A great site for information on USAAF is - http://www.armyairforces.com/dbunitsearch.asp  :-clap

Agains thanks for putting me right, it must be my age  :-wise

Mfg495, sorry for confusion! You are right about "Detroit Miss", code E2-D, it's Drew's plane (source: Squadron Signal no. 6001 - Aces of the Eight) ; I was thinking (but did not tell :-wall) about P-51 which photo you have from ILA Berlin - Big Beautiful Doll! :-ok Think that Squadron Signal is valuable source. Never mind the age, if you are young in your hart, my friend!

You see that's whats great about this site, the pooling of information, always in the end we get the right info, thanks divanov.
By the way, great shots of a truly excellent aircraft, (Once they put the Merlin engine into it  :)))

Hello Everyone,

Nice to see some posts about the P-51. But please be careful, there are many factual errors in the text of the Squadron Signal In Action about the P-51. The best Squadron Signal titles on the P-51 are the two Walkaround books, but even they have some strange comments.

Why do I know this? Because I am just writing a book (more like encyclopaedia) on the P-51, with a lot of imformation from the original documents from the 1940's. The documents that I have (from the manufacturer, RAF, USAAF) disprove some of the text in the Squadron Signal booklet.

Best wishes,

PV Chairman.
