Title: Nord Griffon
Post by: Nico Braas on February 05, 2006, 09:16:59 PM
Here are some details shots of the Nord Aviation 1500 Griffon no.2 as presently exhibited in the Musée de l' Air at Le Bourget, France. Details show Griffon symbol, nose details and details of main wheel bay and nose wheel.
I know of two model kits of the Griffon 02: the 1/72 Airmodel vacform kit and the 1/48 scale Fonderie limited run injection model kit.
I have the first kit, the Fonderie kit will have to wait!

Very attractive plane with mixed power of ram jet and turbo jet engine. Interesting is that Yugoslavia had some interest in this plane and technology and much data regarding to the ram jet power was supply to Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia try to develope ram jet powered helicopter and ram jet recce platform [ with speed of over 700 km/h].

Nico
20 years ago, a french aviation magazine has produced with what was at that time a start-up model company, a resin kit at 1/72 scale of the Griffon.

I think they still have a handfull model kits.

That resin kit of 20 years ago was offered for sale as a limited edition (1200 kits only)  by the French magazine Le Fana de l' Aviation!
See Le Fana no. 215 of October 1987. It was from 'FanaModèle'. It was at 1/72 scale and at that time  it was offered for a staggering price of 225 FF, which is currently some 35 EURO!

F.M. has two kits : one at 1/72 [issued in 2002] and the other at 1/48
look at

and
http://www.fonderie-miniature.fr/griff48.htm

About those kits and the one of Fana modèle #1 issued in 1987, more to come soon but on the model section.

What this could be?

prospective study for an enhance Griffon.
Drawing extract from the book "Les avions de combat français (1944-1960)" [french combat aircrafts] published by Docavia (éditions Larivière) and written by former test navigator Jean Cuny (still available).

future marks are too in the recent book about Griffon / Gerfaut prototypes

Sory !
I haven't the both ones; have had just a quick look inside at the library.
