Yankee Doodle was purchased to make intercontinental flights with the well-known pilot Art Goebel. He is showing here long-wave radio equipment. Eventually the flights by Art Goebel in Yankee Doodle were never made!
This book is highly recommended for more info on the Lockheed early transport planes:
Richard Sanders Allen,
Revolution in the sky - The Lockheeds of aviation golden age

A small bag: fifty years of aviation progress!
Photo's show Grumman Hawkeye at Le Bourget airshow in 1965 and 2009 at almost the same location.
-
Hahaha- this is very popular last time, to take image of the same place as it was photographed long time ago ;)
-
C-141 of 1965 image is replaced by C-17 in 2009 and of course image of 2009 shows most updated version.
Apparently that Hawkeye has an extremely long service life!
