The development of the new fourth-generation jet fighter was carried out by Dassault Aviation since 1972 as part of the low-priority Delta 1000 program. After the cancellation of the Avion de Combat Futur project in 1975, the French Air Force issued requirements for a new fighter and increased the priority of the Delta 1000. The aircraft received the final name Mirage 2000.
Traditionally for "Mirage", the Mirage 2000 was designed as a "tailless" with a triangular wing. It was equipped with a SNECMA M53 engine with a thrust of up to 95 kN on the afterburner. Maximum speed-2336 km / h, flight range — 1550 km. Armament — 2 × 30 mm DEFA 554 guns + up to 6,200 kg of missiles and bombs on 9 suspension points.
The fighter was adopted in 1982. A total of 614 aircraft of all versions were produced. The Mirage 2000 is still in service in 8 countries — France, India, Peru, Qatar, Greece, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Taiwan.
