A military pilot stands next to a supersonic jet front-line fighter MiG-21F-13 of the GDR Air Force (or Luftstreitcrefte). Cottbus-Drewitz airfield, Germany, 1982. The aircraft belonged to the 7th Fighter squadron "Wilhelm Peak" (in honor of the first president of the German Democratic Republic), which was part of the 1st Air Defense Division of the GDR Air Force.

Around the fighter, an arsenal (and a fuel tank) available for hanging on its 5 suspension points is laid out - cannon ammunition, guided air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles, unguided missiles, etc. The first MiG-21 entered service with the Luftstreitcrefte in 1962. And in 1989 there were 251 units of various modifications.
