Iraqi F-16s to Stay in U.S.
« on: December 23, 2014, 04:09:09 PM »
Until the security situation in the country improves, Iraq's F-16 fighter jets will remain in the U.S. indefinitely. The first of 36 aircraft were due to be delivered in country earlier this year — but U.S. defense contractors at Balad Airbase were evacuated because of the deteriorating military situation. It is now expected that Iraqi Air Force pilots will train on these aircraft beginning in January at Tucson, AZ. Currently, those pilots train there on USAF aircraft.
