Fiat 7002
« on: January 26, 2021, 12:51:37 PM »
In the early 1960s, the Italian government signed a contract with Fiat Aviazione to build a transport helicopter. It was planned to use it both for the transport of passengers, and in the army — as a landing and ambulance. The result is one of the most distinctive helicopters in the history of aviation — the Fiat 7002.

The Fiat 7002 had an atypical helicopter fuselage, more like a minivan. It could accommodate up to 5 passengers, and with the doors removed, it became amphibious. The main rotor was driven by compressed air from the nozzles at the ends of the blades. The Fiat 4700 turbo generator was responsible for the air injection. The tail rotor was located in a ring on the tail boom. Cruising speed-135 km / h, range — 300 km.

The tests showed the featureless characteristics of the helicopter. The government canceled the contract and the project was curtailed. The Fiat 7002 remained built in a single copy.
