Title: Fake aircraft photos
Post by: Nico Braas on June 18, 2009, 01:56:15 PM
With Photoshop it is now vey easy of course to 'edit' images and present photos that may be totally different from reality! However, long before Photoshop existed this also happened.
Attached two nice examples of 'reworked' photos:
-Original F-84A Thunderjet press release photo from Republic reworked by KLu Public Affairs to represent a Dutch plane.
-Photo of the XF-104 Starfighter prototype with J-65 engine, short fuselage and intakes without the shock wave cones. Luftwaffe markings are fake. Also wing-tip Sidewinders are fake.
Most of the times you can see it, but there are also some nice cases of 'perfect' forgery!

Yes, that was regular advertising way. Do you know that in Schminke catalogue until mid '90 was available colors for retouching of black and white images.

One I produced in the Gulf in 2006 for OC 39 Sqn. We had a number of ground crew from another sqadron fooled a bit with this one.
They were told that it only came out of the hanger at night and returned from missions early in the morning and this shot was taken as it returned to its hanger.

The Canberra PR.10 - I only wish  ;)

This is an official Martin press release photo showing the XP6M-1 Seamaster with a very unusual wingload.
Also here: please don't believe what you see!!

Hi everybody, hi Nico,

Maybe, it's the reason why, in 1963, Lindberg issued their XF-104 with German markings ?

Cheers,
