Dewoitine D. 27
« on: June 03, 2020, 04:19:09 PM »
June 3, 1928-the first flight of the Dewoitine D. 27 fighter. in 1926, the firm Constructions aéronautiques Émile Dewoitine began work on the D. 27 light combat aircraft commissioned by the government of France. But a year later, the plant of Emil Devuitin went bankrupt and the project was forced to transfer to the Swiss company Eidgenössischen Konstruktionswerkstätten (EKW), where its development continued.

Like previous Devuitin aircraft, the D. 27 was a parasol monoplane of metal construction (steel frame + duralumin skin) and a wing covered with canvas. The maximum speed was 312 km/h. Armament — 2 × 7.5 mm Darne machine gun.

The fighter was produced in Switzerland (67 aircraft), France (20 aircraft) and Yugoslavia (3 aircraft). The main operator was the Swiss air force, in which the Dewoitine D. 27 served until 1944. Today, there are several flying copies of the D. 27 and its training version — the D. 26.
