The "satellite airfield" shuttle missions had good promise but it certainly didn't work out as originally planned.

I guess so ;) I have find some info about escort of US bombers by Soviet fighters, if I can remember good, they give good protection

great theme, as well as I know the one b-17 landed on Sombor airfield ( Yugoslavia ) ended in Russia, there was some photos of it, USAF roundels but the star was painted red, now I don't remember well but I think the star was outlined with yellow....
