Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck

At the January 19, 1950-first flight of the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck fighter-interceptor. Development of a jet interceptor for the Royal Air Force, The Canadian company Avro Canada began in October 1946. According to the requirements of the future CF-100 Canuck was to be all-weather and designed for long-range patrol.

The CF-100 was a low-wing aircraft with a straight wing and a cruciform tail. The prototypes were powered by Rolls-Royce Avon RA 3 engines, and the production aircraft were powered by Avro Canada Orenda 11. The crew consisted of a pilot and a navigator. The maximum speed (for the Mk 5 version) is 888 km / h, the flight range is 3200 km. Armament-2 × suspension with 70 mm Mighty Mouse missiles (Mk 3 series was armed with 8 × 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine guns). The only Canadian serial fighter produced in the amount of 692 aircraft. The CF-100 Canuck was operated by the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Belgian Air Force and was withdrawn from service in 1981. Now Canuck is quite easy to find in museums.
