April 8, 1950-aircraft bomber PB4Y-2 "Privateer" (Reg.No. 59645, 26th patrol squadron of the U.S. Navy) shot down by a Soviet fighter La-11 (pilots — Boris Dokin, Anatoly Gerasimov, Sataev and Tesev) over the Baltic sea near Liepaja, Latvia. The plane took off from an air base in Wiesbaden, Germany. According to Soviet pilots, the offender fired at them and was shot down directly over Latvia, falling into the sea. On August 18, 1950, the United States declared that a plane had been shot down. A crew of 10 people were killed.
