3D part
« on: December 27, 2012, 07:21:44 PM »
Three-dimensional (3D) printing has been used successfully to make metal parts for a variety of aerospace and other applications. Now, NASA is taking the technology to new heights by using 3D printing to design intricate engine parts for its next-generation Space Launch System. Rocket engine parts are made using selective laser melting (SLM) with powdered metals and the M2 Cusing machine, built by Concept Laser of Germany. SLM, a type of selective laser sintering, can create metal parts with complex geometries and precise mechanical properties.
